Golden Facsimile of the
Miroslav Gospel

The Miroslav Gospel is the most renowned Orthodox Cyrillic manuscript from the medieval period. Due to its stunning artistic embellishments, UNESCO included it in 2005 among the 120 most valuable documents of all humanity. Recent research has uncovered a unique symbolic connection between the miniatures and the text, a feature not found in other preserved European medieval manuscripts.

Since its creation in 1161, the Miroslav Gospel was in the possession of all three Serbian royal dynasties. During both World Wars, it was hidden along with all of Serbia's gold. Today, it is preserved in the National Museum of Serbia.

The facsimile editions of the Miroslav Gospel have become prized possessions of the world's greatest libraries and universities. The reproduction of gold embellishments and the faithful reconstruction of the Byzantine binding have set new standards in producing high-quality facsimiles. Over 300 experts from around the globe participated in creating accompanying scientific studies on the symbolism of the artwork and the manuscript's turbulent history.

The exhibition "Divine Inspiration – The Miroslav Gospel" has been viewed by 1.7 million visitors worldwide.
